Healthy Banana Bread

There’s no denying bananas are very healthy for you.  Full of Potassium (second only to avocado), magnesium, tryptophan, and Vitamin C; as well as it can be a natural antacid. I love bananas, but hate it when they get too ripe. So what do you do with those over ripe bananas? There are many recipes for banana bread, muffins, cookies, and smoothies. Try this adapted recipe for a healthier choice with minimal fat and sugar.


  • 6 medium bananas, mashed
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1/2 cup apple sauce
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1 cup brown flour
  • 1 cup oats
  • 1/2 cup ground flax seed
  • Cinnamon (optional)
  • Allspice (optional)
  • Cloves (optional)

Preheat oven 350′. In large bowl, mash 6 medium ripe bananas. Mix in remaining wet ingredients.  Add dry ingredients and mix thoroughly. Spices are optional and amount to add is to individual taste.

Pour into greased pan and bake until tooth pick inserted in center comes out clean. 9X9 metal pan approx 45 minutes, 8X8 glass pan approx 55 minutes.
